The Good: Christian Vasquez. He is being called up for tomorrow's game and is ready to work. I am happy with this decision. He is a great defender and he calls a game very well. He is the pitcher that all pitchers want to pitch to and with a struggling pitching staff, that's the best move to do. He also worked well with Porcello and guess who is pitching on tomorrow. Pitching and defense wins games and Vasquez is more superior with those aspects than Swihart is. Christian also has a cannon for an arm and can throw out anyone which helps us get easy outs. I think Swihart will be demoted to triple A and will work on his game and eventually be called up mid season for depth or an injury.
The Bad: Rusney Castillo. He hasn't adjusted to American style Baseball yet and it's earned him a demotion. He couldn't play consistently well enough to earn a starting spot out of the gate and there's no real use for him as bench player. He needs to be getting constant reps to get better and hopefully show the Red Sox the player he was in Cuba and a bench role won't do that. A $69.1 million dollar bench player with no proven track record in America does not go well with teams trying to trade for him so trade rumors have been almost none for him. With no where to go for him, he has finally be demoted to triple A and hopefully he can get his reps and show us the good player in him.
The Ugly: Pablo Sandoval. He is useless to the Red Sox right now with his fatass on the bench. The Red Sox are putting a high quality on defense and Pablo can't live up to those standards. Shaw has made some great defensive plays and has showed us that he can. Pablo has a "shoulder strain" which landed him on the 15 Day DL. He did not even get an MRI (which is normal protocol) till a day later after it was announced because the Red Sox did not think it was worth it. They took any chance they could to get him off the team for now and when Pablo said his shoulder was hurting him, boom there it was. They called up Josh Rutledge who can play 3 infield positions and is already more useful than panda ever was. They gave him a strict conditioning plan to work on while on the DL and told Panda that they won't play him unless he loses weight or a terrible injury happens to the team. Pablo wants to be an everyday player in Boston and if the offseason was any sign of it he's not going to lose the weight, so good bye Pablo! I think they should just give up and eat most of his contract and basically give him to the Padres for free. It would be like a burden off our shoulders.
