First really dominant game by a Red Sox pitcher against a really good offense and it is by none other than Rick Porcello. He worked really well with Christian Vasquez. He was like a whole new pitcher with him behind the plate. He pounded the ball inside a lot and got a lot of ground balls, just like a sinker baller should. Just like in the game in Toronto, he had one nemesis and the rest didn't do anything. It was Edwin Encarnacion, or should I say the next Red Sox DH proclaimed by Papi. He went 2-3 with the 2 home runs and the lone 3 rbis for Toronto. Everyone else was apart of Porcello's dominance. Porcello provided a lot of 1-2-3 innings for the Sox that you couldn't keep track. It was a great performance. He went 6.1 IP 2 H 3 R 3 ER 1 BB 8 SO and got the win.
The ball was flying today and so many players were so close to a home run but ended up with doubles. Big Papi was one of them. He looks so good this year that he should never retire, but it's better to look great during your last run than look awful. We don't want to see another Kobe retirement tour. He was a great player, but the tour was awful with his poor performance overall and with such a bad team. I'm glad Papi is going out on his terms and not being forced out by an injury. He also channeled his inner Jackie Robinson today with a stolen bag. He now has 2 in his career and I think it's safe to say that he'll lead the league this year in stolen bags. He's the baseball GOAT.
Final: Red Sox 5 - Blue Jays 3
